What if We...

What if instead of making the 5th Facebook status of the day, we ask those around about their day.
What if instead of hoping for a better situation, we work for a better life.
What if instead of stressing about what other people thought of us, we compliment them instead.
What if instead of rushing everywhere, we take a moment to stare at the stars.
What if instead of striving for happiness, we strive for peace in thankfulness.
What if instead of tearing our friends down to make us feel better, we help hold their wounded hearts.
What if instead of barely noticing, we look passed their appearance to see their broken spirits.
What if instead of taking, we give.

What if we....

Time slips by so quickly. In one instant you are celebrating a joyous occasion, but in the next grieving the loss of life. These are the battles of life. The battles no one knows you face but you. We can't seem to get out of our own world to see everyone else is fighting a war you don't know about. We treat it as inconveniences to help someone who desperately needs it. We see the immodestly dressed girl in church and think "She doesn't belong here." We look at the boy who can't seem to ever get a good grade and say "He'll never amount to anything."

We treat our friends like strangers when we can't even go beyond petty talk to see if they are actually ok. We are stuck in the repetitive cycle of wishing to connect but never letting someone in, in fear of being judged and hurt, because we have done that same crime to someone else. We question ourselves all the time "what if we did this or that"  but we never change anything. Too afraid to show love, Because to show love you must give up yourself. The world teaches self love, but its a lie. There is no self in love. If I put myself first it wouldn't be love, I would be the same I've always been, selfish. Love is sacrificing your comfort zone to help somebody else.

So what if we lived love, instead of giving hate.
